We've built websites for all devices. Your customers access your site on every kind of PC, Mac, tablet, and mobile phone you can think of -- and we needed a great way to test that.
For that reason we have invested in creating the CO+LAB Device LAB to test our sites on the actual devices and browsers your customers will be using.
Back in the day (three years ago) we really only needed to focus on different desktop browsers and the one mighty iPhone. Today things are different. There are hundreds of device types on many different platforms.
The challenge for us is that when we create a site, the pages look different on these different devices. The standards in web development are very loose and not all device manufactures follow them.
Here is a general overview of what we look at for most websites:
- Google Chrome
- Internet Explorer 11
- Internet Explorer 10
- Internet Explorer 9
- iPhone and iPad
- iOS 6
- iOS 7
- Android Phones and Tablets (here’s where things get interesting)
- Android 4.0.x
- Android 4.1
- Android 4.2
- Android 4.3
- Android 4.4
If you take anything away from that list it should just be that there are a lot of different devices with different versions of operating systems. There are also a TON of other devices and operating systems not included on our list.
The bottom line is that we want your customers to have an awesome experience across whatever device or browser they are using so we are using real devices to make sure that happens.
